Within walking distance of most primary school is a church. It provides an excellent concert venue for the entire school to perform its Pop Connection concert.
Pop Connection always results in strengthened relationships between church and school and creates a platform for working together in the future. Having spent a week learning and recording a set of songs, the children perform a high energy concert in the church for families, teachers and other members of
the community. During the concert the church has the opportunity to profile its activities, launch new initiatives and welcome the community. The Pop Connection team deepens a child’s understanding and respect for people who may be different to them, communities that are unfamiliar to them and what it means explore the journey of faith. The songs are based on the National Society of Religious Education values - Reverence, Wisdom, Thankfulness, Humility, Endurance, Service, Compassion, Trust, Peace, Forgiveness, Friendship, Justice, Hope, Creation. What does the project cost? The project provides a wonderful way for the church to invest in the life of the school and to help the school put on an event it could never do alone. Hundreds of parents, friends, relations and the wider community come along to the concert to celebrate the achievements of the children. It is an event the community will remember for a very long time. Andy Silver, our national manager regularly meets with church leadership, PCCs and community groups to explain the costs of the project, how these costs can be recouped and to emphasise the long-term benefits of investing into the life of the school.
