Over a period of five or six days Pop Connection will enable schools to:

Connect with the government’s Community Integration strategy -
Common ground, creating a clear sense of aspirations and values through music
Responsibility, promoting a strong sense of personal & social responsibility through music
3. Participation, creating understanding and tolerance through doing music together
Pair with another school - the project can bring together completely contrasting schools and put on a wonderful event celebrating unity and diversity.
Give children confidence to perform - CCA (Cheerful, Confident Achievers) the concert creates a platform for every child to enjoy demonstrating their skills and talents.
Teach children positive life enhancing values - The songs are written to provide alternative values to what children are normally exposed to through the media. The songs will deepen a child’s understanding of respect for people, communities and faith, how to be wise, thankful, humble, compassionate, trustworthy.
Involve every child irrespective of their ability, faith and ethnicity - in an all inclusive project enabling children from all backgrounds to record a professional pop CD.

A project that connects your school and community, bringing people together to form long-lasting relationships.

WHAT OTHER TEACHERS SAY:

Monk Fryston Primary School Pop Connection concert at Selby Abbey March 2012

“In all my years of teaching I can honestly say  I’ve never been involved with such an inspirational project involving every child”
Chris Wroe, Deputy Head, Westcott Primary School,
Hull

“Pop Connection arrived at our school and brought a sense of fun and life. The concert last Thursday was truly awesome and in an unexpected way I realised that heaven had touched earth!”
Andrew Warren, Executive Head, John Baskeyfield Primary, Stoke,

In the ten years I have been at Cheadle Heath Primary I have never seen the children so inspired by a single project.  It poignantly involved every child from reception to Y6 and crossed all cultural and religious divides.  Pop Connection is inspirational and energised the whole school.  I knew that the Pop Connection experience would be good but never did I expect it to be this good!”  and I really mean it!”      Christine Meekley - Head, Cheadle Heath Primary

“The children got so much out of it -  singing on a CD and performing to a sell out concert were the highlights, but there was so much more... the children thought about the words of the songs and the universal messages of love, friendship and looking after the world in which we live. I had high expectations and it exceeded these by far.”
Graham Bollands, Head, St Ann’s Heath Primary School, Virginia Water

Morning - Pop Connection technicians setting up PA at local church (or alternative venue)

Afternoon - all children come to the concert venue for positioning and sound check

Evening - concert

If Head Teachers wish to have two concerts on the same day then the concert day timetable will need to be adapted.

 How it works:

The Pop Connection team will:-
~ During the first week spend four days in your school teaching a set of original high
    energy, chart style songs.
~ Work within your existing school timetable.
~ Set up a mobile studio in school to record your pupils.
~ Mix and master the recording at our own recording studios.
~ Print and duplicate a cover unique to your school.
~ During the second week we return for the community concert which is usually held in
   a local church
~ Sell the CDs at the concert
(Please refer to the sample timetable on the right hand side of this page)
The team provide and set up all the equipment needed for a professional concert. The entire school performs the songs and everyone enjoys a wonderful evening celebrating the launch of the CD and the achievements of the children.

Our Ethos

Pop Connection is a Christian Charity. Its ethos is that all people should be respected regardless of gender, race, ethnic origin, religion, age and physical or mental capability. The musical style and lyrical content of the songs sets a credible platform for the Pop Connection team to teach pupils the importance of valuing all people; how we should behave towards those who are different from us; the importance of having a healthy view of ourselves; developing personal creativity and encouraging pupils to look at the deeper questions of the meaning and purpose of life.

What does the project cost?

The costs are shared between school, church and other community groups. Shared costs always results in greater community ownership of the project and generous investment into the life of the school. As school budgets are always tight, we help schools recoup their investment in various ways, which over the years, have proved to be very successful in offsetting costs. Download “Costs Info” below.

Please phone Andy Silver - 07980 692688 or email - andy@innervation.org to discuss costs, ways of funding the project and further details of how the project works.
